After the addition of Rumania and Bulgaria to the European Union, it is larger than ever. Many Europeans however watch the tug-of-war on basic rights with surprise and incomprehension.

Yet many employees still are not clear on what Europe has to do with them. Although relocation of production sites and wage competition are seen as a consequence of globalization and European competition, still political decisions on the European level are for most people the result of elitist conferences and non-transparent negotiation processes.

At the same time the bordercrossing economic networks increasingly demand of employees, that they take responsibility of their interests in international structures. Yet this requires a basic knowledge of European policy processes.

This is where our teaching modules for wage earners come in. They are meant to give a visual and practical access to Europe. Thus, the focus of our teaching modules lies on the individual possibilities to engage oneself for Europe, and not on an in-depth accumulation of knowledge. The material, which we have chosen from a very varied assortment, has been compiled to this end.

The modules of the EU project were developed by trainers for trainers and financed with the support of the European Commission. They are divided into five main sections:
  1. Basics of the European Union
  2. International Competition and Cooperation
  3. EU expansion
  4. Work migration within the EU
  5. Unions in Europe
The sections "Basics of the European Union" and "Unions in Europe" encompass an additional focus on the other sections, and thus are more comprehensive.
